Are you planning to invest in energy storage and want to know if the project actually makes sense—before you choose a technology, EPC, or commercialization model?
QuickerSim Energy conducts independent technical and economic analyses of battery energy storage systems (BESS) for pre-meter and post-meter projects. We combine energy market modeling, knowledge of the balancing market, analysis of consumption and generation profiles, and storage operation optimization to answer three key questions:
What kind of BESS configuration makes sense, where the project can generate revenue or save money, and how it should be controlled.
BESS BEFORE THE METER / UTILITY-SCALE
We analyze stand-alone storage systems and hybrid renewable energy + BESS systems, including PV + BESS projects and wind farms + BESS.
We model potential revenue streams from, among other sources:
• price arbitrage in the energy market,
• FCR, aFRR, and mFRR balancing services,
• integration of BESS with an existing or planned renewable energy source,
• utilization of available connection capacity,
• other available value streams relevant to a specific project.
We explore various options for power and storage capacity, as well as operational strategies. This ensures that the investor doesn’t just receive an answer to “how much can a 10 MW / 20 MWh BESS generate,” but also information on whether that specific configuration is optimal for the project in question.
BESS BEHIND THE METER / C&I
For industrial and commercial customers, we analyze the storage facility’s potential based on the actual 15-minute profile and the energy cost structure.
Depending on the situation, we take into account, among other things:
• arbitrage and changing the energy purchase profile,
• reducing consumption during the most expensive hours,
• capacity charge and selected distribution components,
• optimization of contracted and connection capacity,
• integration of BESS with PV or CHP systems,
• time shifting of surplus energy,
• the ability to combine facility-side savings with additional revenue streams.
WHAT DOES THE INVESTOR RECEIVE?
We tailor the scope of the analysis to the project stage—from preliminary investment screening to a detailed technical and economic analysis.
The results may include:
• recommended BESS power and capacity,
• optimal battery storage operation strategy,
• revenue and/or savings forecast,
• CAPEX and OPEX scenarios,
• cash flow, IRR, NPV, and payback period,
• sensitivity analysis of key assumptions,
• identification of major technical and market risks,
• recommendations regarding the next stages of the project.
WHY AN INDEPENDENT ANALYSIS?
The QuickerSim Energy analysis is not tied to the selection of a specific storage manufacturer or technology provider.
Its purpose is not to justify the purchase of a specific device, but to provide honest answers to the following questions:
Is the investment economically viable?
Which BESS configuration offers the greatest potential?
What value drivers should the business case be based on?
How should the storage system operate once it is up and running?
We work with renewable energy and battery energy storage system (BESS) investors and developers, industrial companies, energy asset owners, and EPC firms.
Do you have a specific project?
Please provide basic information about the project, the planned capacity and storage capacity of the BESS, and its current stage of development. For behind-the-meter installations, the starting point is typically a 15-minute profile of consumption and—if applicable—renewable energy generation.
Based on this, we will propose a scope of analysis that aligns with the investment decision you wish to make.
